This pic started out as a simple bit of fanart, but it grew into something much more monstrously colourful when I discovered a new watercolour-style technique with my photoshop brush.
For those who are unfamiliar with the indi game Braid - Think Super Mario meets Prince of Persia, all done in a beautiful oil-pastel style. Here's a trailer I dug up from youtube -
It's probably the best game I've played this year. Better than Left 4 Dead. Yeah, you heard me. Localized time travel > Zombies.
I found the puzzles in Braid absolutely mind-boggling at first. After a while they became a bit repetitive, but were still entertaining enough to keep me guessing. And the ending ... oh God the ending ... It's an open ending, but ... Oh God.
Possibly what makes this game so epic is that if you're very clever in the ending sequence, you CAN get the princess ... but you create a reverse-paradox and destroy the universe in the process. O_o But don't worry. You can survive to tell the tale. :3
I wont reveal too much about it, but I'd HIGHLY reccomend you all go out and get Braid. It's on Steam and it's pretty cheap. Until then, I'm afraid your princess is in another castle.
EDIT - I've seen several people on DA use this picture as stock, when I have specifically specified that I would like EXPLICIT PERMISSION before it's use. Please contact me before you use it. Thanks.
Am I the only one who couldn't stop thinking of that song "If I Could Turn Back Time" while I was playing this game? I mean there are a lot of similarities to the lyrics. Weird coincidence or not it's still a great, if not a little frustrating, game.
Sweeeeet artwork man. I am in awe of the meaning that is hidden in this game. At first I was so confused and thought that I was dumb due to the fact that I couldn't not understand the text from the books. Although I forced myself to read them, I never could piece them together.
The ending made me search for the true meaning of Braid. And I'm in shock of what meaning this game truly holds. I hope I get to see more games like these in my life. Braid I will keep forever. Forever.
You've heard this a lot, but your pic really captures the real essence and story of Braid. I feel like that when I look at it, the closer that Tim gets to the "Princess" the more the world goes up in flames due to what she really is ;D. It's as if the monsters are trying to stop him and the dinosaur is trying to warn him to not go any further. Very well done
(till my brother deleted it)
